As a HGV Driver you’ll need
- To have a driving licence that includes HGV for lorries or PCV for buses
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Have a Certificate of Professional. Competence (CPC) – this is known as the Driver CPC.
- Knowledge of vehicle and public safety and security.
- Concentration skills for staying focused while driving.
- Customer service skills.
- The ability to organise your time and workload.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Physical skills like lifting, bending and carrying.
- Knowledge of transport methods, costs and benefits.
- To be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device.
As a HGV Driver you may:
- Plan deliveries and the route you’ll take.
- Check your vehicle is safe and report any issues you find.
- Help load and unload goods safely.
- Keep records of the deliveries you make.
- Regularly check traffic reports and change your route if needed.
- Work long shifts, night shifts, irregular and unsociable hours (41 to 60 or more per week).

Scotia Recruitment provides work-finding services to its clients and work-seekers. We must process personal data (including sensitive personal data) so that we can provide these services – in doing so, we act as a data controller. Scotia Recruitment will collect your personal data (which may include sensitive personal data) and will process your personal data for the purposes of providing you with work-finding services. This includes for example, contacting you about job opportunities, assessing your suitability for those opportunities, updating our databases, putting you forward for job opportunities, arranging payments to you and developing and managing our services and relationship with you and our clients.
In some cases we may be required to use your data for the purpose of investigating, reporting and detecting crime and also to comply with laws that apply to us. We may also use your information during the course of internal audits to demonstrate our compliance with certain industry standards.

b. Legitimate Interest
This is where Scotia Recruitment has a legitimate reason to process your data provided it is reasonable and does not go against what you would reasonably expect from us. Where Scotia Recruitment has relied on a legitimate interest to process your personal data our legitimate interests is/are as follows:
- Managing our database and keeping work-seeker records up to date;
- Contacting you to seek your consent where you need it;
- Notifying you of assignments, job prospects and opportunities.
- Providing work-finding services to you, including sending your information to clients where an interest in doing said particular type of work has been demonstrated, but you have not expressly consented to the passing on of your cv;
- Contacting you with information about similar products or services that you have used recently; and
- Passing your information to debt collection agencies.
c. Recipient/s of data
Scotia Recruitment will process your personal data and/or sensitive personal data with the following recipients:
- Clients that we introduce or supply individuals to.
- Candidates’ former or prospective new employers that you obtain or provide references to.
- The Recruitment and Employment Confederation.
- Any other third parties who may carry out audits to ensure that we run your business correctly.
- Payroll service providers who manage your payroll on our behalf.
- Any umbrella companies that we pass candidate data to.
- Other recruitment agencies in the supply chain (e.g. master/neutral vendors and second tier suppliers);
- Our insurers.
- Our legal advisers.
- Social networks.
- Our IT and CRM providers.
- Any public information sources and third party organisations we may use to carry out suitability checks on work-seekers e.g. Companies House, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), General Medical Council (GMC), DVLA, credit reference agencies.
- Government, law enforcement agencies and other regulators e.g the Police, Home Office, HMRC, Employment Agencies Standards Inspectorate (EASI), Local Authority Designated Officers (LADOs), GLAA.
- Trade unions;
- Any of our group companies; and
- Any third-party website, administrative or CRM plugins.
- Any other organisations an individual asks us to share our data with.
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list.
d. Statutory/contractual requirement
Your personal data is required by law and/or a contractual requirement (e.g. our client may require this personal data), and/or a requirement necessary to enter into a contract. You are obliged to provide the personal data and if you do not the consequences of failure to provide the data are:
- An inability for Scotia Recruitment to introduce or supply a work seeker to a client.
- In effect, Scotia Recruitment may be unable to provide you with work
2. Overseas Transfers
Scotia Recruitment may transfer only the information you provide to us to countries outside the European Economic Area (‘EEA’) for the purposes of providing you with work-finding services. We will take steps to ensure adequate protections are in place to ensure the security of your information. The EEA comprises the EU member states plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
3. Data Retention
Scotia Recruitment will retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purpose we collect it. Different laws may also require us to keep different data for different periods of time.
The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, require us to keep work-seeker records for at least one year from (a) the date of their creation or (b) after the date on which we last provide you with work-finding services.
We must also keep your payroll records, holiday pay, sick pay and pensions auto-enrolment records for as long as is legally required by HMRC and associated national minimum wage, social security and tax legislation.
Where Scotia Recruitment has obtained your consent to process your personal data, we will do so in line with our retention policy. Upon expiry of that period Scotia Recruitment will seek further consent from you. Where consent is not granted Scotia Recruitment will cease to process your personal data.
4. Your rights
Please be aware that you have the following data protection rights:
- The right to be informed about the personal data Scotia Recruitment processes on you;
- The right of access to the personal data Scotia Recruitment processes on you;
- The right to rectification of your personal data;
- The right to erasure of your personal data in certain circumstances;
- The right to restrict processing of your personal data;
- The right to data portability in certain circumstances;
- The right to object to the processing of your personal data that was based on a public or legitimate interest;
- The right not to be subjected to automated decision making and profiling; and
- The right to withdraw consent at any time.

There may be circumstances where Scotia Recruitment will still need to process your data for legal or official reasons. We will inform you if this is the case. Where this is the case, we will restrict the data to only what is necessary for the purpose of meeting those specific reasons.
If you believe that any of your data that Scotia Recruitment processes is incorrect or incomplete, please contact us using the details above and we will take reasonable steps to check its accuracy and correct it where necessary.

If, during the course of a temporary assignment, the Client wishes to employ me direct, I acknowledge that Scotia Recruitment will be entitled either to charge the client an introduction/transfer fee, or to agree an extension of the hiring period with the Client (after which I may be employed by the Client without further charge being applicable to the Client).
6. Miscellaneous
I declare that all information provided by myself herein is true. I have read and understood the Contract of Services, and I understand that my registration is contingent upon satisfactory references or any additional checks deemed necessary by Scotia Recruitment to support my application.
I authorise Scotia Recruitment to provide references to a future employer should it be approached to do so.
I hereby agree to treat any information regarding Scotia Recruitment, its services, or its clients as strictly confidential. I will not disclose any information unless explicitly directed by Scotia Recruitment, in accordance with company policy.

DVLA Check
Scotia Recruitment Limited is responsible for ensuring that our drivers possess full licensing, holding the appropriate entitlements and categories, in strict adherence to legal requirements and company compliance.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) offers an online service that enables license holders to access and view their license categories and details over the internet. To uphold this standard, Scotia Recruitment conducts license reviews every twelve weeks to verify that all our drivers are actively compliant.
In order to do this, we request your permission to authorise Scotia Recruitment Limited to conduct quarterly license reviews with the DVLA on your license.To facilitate this process, we kindly request your permission to authorise Scotia Recruitment Limited to conduct quarterly license reviews with the DVLA on your license.

Work Finder Agreement
This Work Finder Agreement is between:
Scotia Recruitment Ltd (the “Company”) incorporated and registered at (Scotia Recruitment, Kintail House, Beechwood Park, Inverness, IV2 3BW) with company number (SC778241)
and
you (the “Candidate” or “you”).
You are agreeing for Scotia Recruitment to seek work on your behalf.
All work-seeking services provided by the Company to you will be provided in0line with this Agreement. By signing this agreement, you agree to the Terms set out below. You should ensure that you have read and understood the Agreement before signing.
Terms of Agreement
Scotia Recruitment is to provide you with recruitment services, acting as an Agency, as defined under the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and/or an Employment Business as defined by the conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Business Regulations 2003.
You grant the company permission to actively seek work on your behalf.
Should you wish to terminate Scotia Recruitment’s provision of work-finding services, you are required to submit written notice at least 7 days in advance confirming this.
This agreement does not assure the procurement of employment for you. Scotia Recruitment assumes no liability if it is unable to secure, cannot identify or offer suitable work to you, and there is no guarantee that the work identified will be acceptable or suitable for you.
The Company reserves the right to terminate this agreement with immediate effect.
You are entitled to receive at least the legal National Minimum Wage for any work performed. Specific details regarding the rate of pay will be outlined in individual Assignment Schedules.
Under normal circumstances, payment will be issued on a weekly basis in arrears.
You will be entitled to receive statutory holiday pay and leave entitlement, which shall not be less than the statutory minimum.
You agree not to disclose or reveal any information that identifies or pertains to Scotia Recruitment, its suppliers, clients, directors, staff, or affiliated companies to any third party, individual, firm, or company, unless such disclosure is pre-agreed and necessary for the performance of your work duties.
You authorize Scotia Recruitment to utilize the information and documentation submitted by you or a third party acting on your behalf for the purpose of administration, fulfilling obligations, and seeking employment opportunities on your behalf. This may involve sharing information or documents with third-party employers.
Scotia Recruitment will manage and process your personal data. Any processing of data by Scotia Recruitment concerning you will adhere to our data protection policy and privacy notice, accessible upon request or from the Scotia Recruitment website.
You may withdraw your consent by submitting a written notice in writing to Scotia Recruitment, providing a minimum of 7 days notice.
In the event that any part or provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable, invalid, or illegal, it may be adjusted to the minimum extent necessary to render it valid and enforceable. If such modification is not feasible, the said part or provision may be removed, and this action will not impact the validity or enforceability of the remaining portions of this agreement.
This Agreement may only be modified through written agreement by both parties, except in instances where statutory directives necessitate Company approval by a director.
This agreement, along with any disputes or claims arising out of or related to it, shall be subject to and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Scotland.
